Background
After the Screening is a series of public film-sharing sessions curated throughout 2023, initiated in response to a growing need for collective viewing and dialogue outside commercial cinema environments. Rather than treating films as standalone cultural products, the programme approached cinema as a social space for reflection, community exchange, and cultural inquiry.
Description
The programme curated a selection of films that address themes of locality, personal memory, and social transition, including:

Teochew Hot (潮州热) — a cinematic exploration of local context and urban emotional states.

Guanbu A Week (之后的一周) — a coming-of-age narrative set in a regional town, which had its world premiere at the FIRST International Film Festival in Xining, China—an internationally recognised festival platform that showcases emerging cinematic voices.

Outside the Garden (花园外) — a film reflecting on space, belonging, and relational dynamics beyond familiar environments.
After screenings, audiences were invited to participate in open discussions, generating dialogue on identity, community, and lived experience in contemporary life.
